intelligence quotient (IQ)   A term which means the number used to estimate a person's rate of mental growth (intelligence).

psychiatrist   A person who studies the workings of the mind. This person is a medical doctor.

plateau   A word which means a level at which something is stabilized for a period of time.

psychologist   A person who studies behavior, including thoughts, feelings, and learning abilities. This person may have a PhD so may be referred to as doctor, but not a medical doctor.

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)   A test that asks people to make up stories based on a series of pictures.

subconscious   A word which means the nature of mental operations yet not present in consciousness.

neurosurgeon   A person who studies and operates on the brain.

Rorschach test   A test that gathers information about personality and intelligence from the images people see in inkblot designs.
