Vector: | an image is stored as lines rather than a series of dots or
pixels |
GIF: Graphics Interchange Format | a bit-mapped graphics file format
with low resolution and compressed to minimal file size for use on the web.
It is a format especially chosen for animation effects. |
JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group | a standard file for shrinking
graphics so they transmit faster between modems and take up less space
on your hard drive; This is the most widely accepted and used format for
images. |
PNG: Portable Networks Graphics: | a format designed for the web; It will
usually create a smaller file size than a GIF format. |
BMP: Windows Bitmap ; | a huge image file that has no advantage over
other image formats; These files take up a lot of space on a hard drive. |
TIFF: Tagged Image File Format; | a file used in graphic design,
publishing, and photography industries; The files are very large and have a
slow loading time. |
