What is the difference between a niche and habitat? Niche- how it lives Habitat- where it lives
Define ecological niche composed of all the physical, chemical, biological factors that species need to survive and reproduce
Competitive exclusion states that: 2 species compete for same resources, one species is better suited to niche and can push the other into another niche and extinction
Niche partitioning is... when species naturally divide different resources based on competitive advantage
What is evolutionary response? divergent evolution of a species
What is the difference between intraspecific and interspecific competition? Organisms within the species compete in intraspecific, and 2 different species competes for resources in interspecific competition.
What type of parasite attatches itself to the outside of its host? to its inside? An ectoparasite sticks to the outside; an endoparasite attatches to the inside of the host.
What is population dispersion? What are the 3 types; describe them. Population dispersion is the way in which individuals are spread in an area. Clumped dispersion is when they live close together, uniform dispersion is when individuals live at specific distances, and random is when they are spread randomly.
What is survivorship curve? A generalized diagram that shows the number of surviving members over time from a measure set of births.
