Characteristics of Living Things Assimilate (asorb/digest) and use energy. Respond to the environment.
First Step of the Scientific Method Make an observation.
Second Step of the Scientific Method Ask a question "Why is this this way?"
Third Step of the Scientific Method Form a hypothesis.
Fourth Step of the Scientific Method Test the hypothesis by experimenting.
Classification Categories Specific to general. Species, Genus, Family, Order, Class, Phylum, Kingdom, Domain.
How the Scientific Name is Written Genus name first, capitalized(Underlined or italics), Epithet second (not capitalized)
Hypothesis Educated guess. A testable idea for a particular observation.
Eukariyotic Kingdom Protista, Fungi, Plantae, Animalia
Animalia Animals. Mulitcellular, heterotrophic and mostly mobile. Internal digestion.
Plantae The plants. Multicellular, photosynthetic organisms.
Fungi Multicellular, heterotrophic, mostly decomposers these organisms absorb their food. Enternal digestion.
Protista The protists. Unicellular and multicellular organisms either photosynthetic or not.
Hierarchy of Organisation The 11 Organisations of Life.
The 11 Organisms of life: Atoms, Molecules, Cells, Tissues, Organs, Organ Systems, Organisms, Population, community, Ecosystem, Biosphere.
