Science- Unit 2 Test
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Force | A push or pull exerted on an object |
| Newton | A unit measure that equals the force required to accelerate 1 kg of mass at 1m per second |
| Net force | Overall forve on an object when all the individual forces acting on it are added together |
| Unbalanced force | Forces that produce a nonzero net force(which changes an objects motion) |
| Balanced force | Equal forces acting on an object in opposite directions |
| Friction | Force that 1 surface exerts on another when the 2 surfaces rub against eachother |
| Static friction | Objects are NOT moving |
| Sliding friction | Solid surfaces slide over eachother |
| Rolling friction | An object rolls over a surface |
| Fluid friction | An object movs through a liquid or gas |
| Gravity | Force that pulls objects toward eachother |
| Mass | Measure of how much matter is in an object |
| Weight | Measure of the force of gravity on an object |
| Free fall | Motion of a falling object when the only force acting on it is gravity |
| Air resistance | Objects falling through air experience a type of fluid friction |
| Terminal velocity | Greatest velocity a falling object reaches |
| Projectile | An object that is thrown |
| Intertia | Tendency of an object to resist a change in motion |
| Momentum | Product of an objects mass and velocity (multiplication) |
| Law of Conversation of Momentum | States in the abstence of outside forces, the total momentum of objects that interact does NOT change |
