Microscope Vocab
This is the vocabulary associated with the microscope.
| Question | Answer |

| Eyepiece/Occular | the place where you look into the microscope...it generally has a magnification of 10x |
| Objectives (Scanning, low, high) | These offer different amounts of magnification (scanning = 4x, low = 10x, and high = 40x) |
| Course Adjustment | This is the larger adjustment knob used to initially bring an object into view |
| Fine Adjustment | This is the smaller adjustment knob, used to give final focusing to the object. |
| Diaphragm | You adjust this to change the amount of light reaching the object. |
| Total Magnification | Eyepiece Magnification X Objective Magnification |
| Field of View | The area that you can see when you look through the microscope |
| Wet Mount | a slide with a specimin, a liquid substance (usually water) and a coverslip |
| Cover Slip | placed over the specimin and a liquid substance to keep them in place |
