Vocabulary from Unit 1 - Making Connections & Scientific Method

QuestionAnswer
Title The effect of __________ on ____________ in _______________.
Hypothesis a prediction of results based on previous knowlege, observations and research.
Independent variable the variable that is being changed or tested in an experiment
Dependent variable the variable collected as the data of the experiemnt...it will "depend" on the independent variable.
Control group the group that gets the normal or expected treatment in an experiment
Experimental group The group that recieves the independent variable being tested.
Controlled Factors All of the variables that are kept constant between the control and the experimental groups.
Data the numbers that you collect as you complete your experiment (these are representation of the dependent variable)
Theory an idea that has been tested and verified by various scientists to be true.
