observation info obtained by using your senses
hypothesis an idea or explanation based off of observation that can be tested
prediction statement made in advance about what the results will be
experiment a procedure carried out in controlled condditions to answer a question
control group the group in an experiment that stands for comparison to the other groups, the other groups are the exact same except for 1 factor, which was changed in the other group(s)
experimental group a group exactly like the control group except one factor is changed
independant variable aka manipulated variable, the factor that was changed
dependant variable a factor that changes in result of other factors being changed
theory an explanation for a phenomenon
peer review when other scientists who are experts in the feild of the experiment examine the results of the experiment before it gets published for public use
