Domain in a modern taxonomic system, the broadcast catagory; the catagory that contains kingdoms
Kingdom in a traditional taxonomic system, the highest taxonomic catagory; which contains a group of similar phyla
Ecology the study of interactions between organisms and other living and nonliving components of their enviroment
Ecosystem a community of organisms and their abiotic enviroment
Evolution a heritable change in the characteristics within the population from one generation to the next; the development of new types or organisms from prexisting types of organisms over time
Natural Selection the process by which individuals that are better adapted to their enviroment survive and reproduce more sucessfully than less well adapted individuals do;a theory to explain the mechanism of evolution
Adaptation the process of becoming adapted to an enviroment; an anatomical, physicological, or behavoral, trait that improves an organisms ability to survive and reproduce
