Chapter 6 photosynthesis
| Word | Descriptions |
|---|---|
| Calvin cycle - step 1 | CO2 combines with RuBP to form a six carbon molecule, which splits to form two 3 carbon molecules, called 3-PGA |
| Calvin cycle - step 2 | 3-PGA is converted into G3P using ATP and NADPH |
| Calvin cycle - step 3 | One molecule of G3P is used to make organic compounds (leaves the Calvin cycle) |
| Calvin cycle - step 4 | The remaining G3P is converted back into RuBP to start the cycle again |
| Stomata | Small pores that plants lose water to air through. They also let CO2 enter the plant. |
| C4 Plants: | Have their stomata partially closed during the hottest part of the day |
| The CAM Pathway | (Like a nocturnal plant) Have their stomata |
| Factors That Affect Photosynthesis: | Light Intensity, Carbon Dioxide Levels, and Temperature. |
| Chlorophyll a | Primary pigment (absorbs mostly orange-red and blue-violet light |
| In the thylakoid membrane: | Light reactions occur |
