regulator organisms that use energy to control some of their internal conditions

migration moving to a more favorable habitat
niche the specific role, or way of life, of an organism within its environment
generalist species with broad niches; they bcan tolerate a range of conditions and use a variety of resources
specialist species that have narrow niches
