QuestionAnswer
hypothesis a testable explanation for a question/problem
experiment procedure that tests a hypothesis
experimental group in an experiment, the group receiving the independent variable
control group in an experiment,the group used for comparison; receives no experimental treatment.
Independent Variable (IV) A single factor changed by the scientist in an experiment.
Dependent Variable (DV) Change(s) measured/recorded in an experiment.
Constants Factors that do not change in an experiment.
Biology The study of life.
Organism Anything that shows all the characteristics of life; a living thing.
Metabolism The process of breaking down food into energy (ATP)
Reproduction The process of making more of your own kind.
Responsiveness Reacting to something in your environment.
Heredity The process of passing traits from parents to offspring.
Growth Increasing in size
