| cell membrane | the boundary of a cell that separates the inside of a cell from the outside enviroment |

| lysosome | a small organelle that breaks down waste |
| smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) | a interconnected mess of tubes that are involved in the synthesis of lipids |
| rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) | network of sacs and tubes connected to the nucleus, responsible for making proteins |
| golgi apparatus | series of stacked sacs, takes products from ER. modifies them, and transports them somewhere else in the cell or out of the cell |
| cytoskeleton | tubes and rods by the cell membrane that helps support the shape of the cell, used to help move organelles around cell, can create extensions and help with motion |
| centriole | two cylinder shaped rods located near the nucleus, responsible for helping during mitosis |
| cytoplasm | all cell contents underneath the cell membrane |
| cytosol | fluid or jelly like material found in cell, helps in circulation of materials throughout cell |
| mitochondria | changes stored energy (sugar) into usable energy |
| chloroplast | changes light energy into stored energy |
