What are carbohydrates? they are made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen
What are the types of carbohydrates? Monosaccharides and Polysaccharides
What are Monosaccharides? simple sugars.
What is a Polysaccharide? Complex sugars
3 examples of carbohydrates? Glycogen, starch, and cellulose
Glycogen? an energy storage molecule for mammals.
Starch? an energy storage molecule for plants
Cellulose? used in cell walls of plants
Lipids contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Commonly called fats and oils.
What test is used for carbohydrates? The Benedicts solution
What test is used to test lipids? the brown paper bag test
What test is used to test proteins? the Biuret's solution
What are the basic building blocks of proteins? Amino acids
What is an enzyme? a type of protein that is used to speed up chemical reactions
What are nucleic acids? complex molecule that stores and transmits cellular information
