Parts of a Cell (AM)

QuestionAnswer
Nucleus The brain of the cell.
Cytoplasm The jelly-like substance that fills the cell.
Ribosomes They make proteins in the cell.
Cell The basic unit of an organism.
Cell Membrane The membrane controls what goes in and out of a cell and holds it all together.
Cell Wall Provides extra protection to plant cells.
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum It detoxifies harmful substances in a cell.
Golgi Complex It gets parts ready to and then transports them out of the cell.
Mitochondria It provides energy to the cell.
Chloroplasts It collects sunlight for plants to go through photosynthesis.
Lysosomes Houses digestive enzymes to break down materials.
Vacuole It is storage for food, water, and waste.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum It detoxifies harmful substances.
Cytoskeleton Transportation inside cells.
Chromosomes A cells genetic material.
Centrosome It moves microtubules around so they can send out spindle fibers for use during mitosis and meiosis.
