| What is an enzyme? | protein mad up of amino acids, made to speed up chemical reactions. |
| What is an active site? | it is the place on the enzyme that locks in the substrate to produce two products |
| Can the enzyme have an optimun working rate? | yes as if the pH scale is just right (in the middle of alkali and acid) the enzyme will be able to work faster. Also if you increase the temperature the enzyme will work faster as more heat means more energy. |
| what happens in an enzyme when it denatures | the bonds in the amnio acids break and then the emzyme changes shape therefore meaning that the substrate cant fit into the active site (meaning no products made) |
