Parts of a Cell (KT)

Cytoplasm The material or protoplasm within a living cell, excluding the nucleus.
Chloroplast A plastid that contains chlorophyll and in which photosynthesis takes place.
Cell Membrane The semipermeable membrane surrounding the cytoplasm of a cell.
Vacuole 1.A space or vesicle within the cytoplasm of a cell, enclosed by a membrane and typically containing fluid.
Cell wall A rigid layer of polysaccharides lying outside the plasma membrane of the cells of plants, fungi, and bacteria
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum an eukaryotic organelle that forms an interconnected network of tubules, vesicles, and cisternae
Cell Basic unit every living thing is made of.
Nucleus Powerhouse of a cell
Golgi Complex a netlike structure in the cytoplasm of animal cells (especially in those cells that produce secretions).
Centrosome An organelle near the nucleus of a cell that contains the centrioles (in animal cells) and from which the spindle fibers develop
Mitochondria An organelle found in large numbers in most cells, in which the biochemical processes of respiration and energy production occur.
Cytoskeletin A microscopic network of protein filaments and tubules in the cytoplasm of many living cells, giving them shape and coherence.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum an eukaryotic organelle that forms an interconnected network of tubules, vesicles, and cisternae
Ribosomes A minute particle consisting of RNA and associated proteins, found in large numbers in the cytoplasm of living cells.
Chromosomes A threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information
Lysosomes An organelle in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells containing degradative enzymes enclosed in a membrane.
