Resp system defined

Respiratory System Definitions

QuestionAnswer
alveolus Tiny sacs at the end of the bronchioles.
bronchi The 2 tubes that branch off of the trachea.
diaphragm The large, dome-shaped muscle located at the base of the lungs which aids breathing.
epiglottis The skin flap that directs air and food to the proper channel.
larynx voice box; contains vocal cords
lung Bronchi branch many times, getting smaller and ending tiny spherical air sacs (alveoli).
nose The path which oxygen enters the lungs.
trachea tube-like structure made of cartilage (windpipe)
vocal cord One of two small bands of muscle within the larynx. These muscles vibrate to produce the voice.
