What is the function of an eyepiece? The eyepiece contains a magnifying lens.
What is the function of an arm? An arm supports the body tube.
What is the function of the stage? The stage supports the slide being observed.
What is the function of the opening of the stage? The opening of the stage permits light to pass up to the eyepiece.
What is the function of the coarse adjustment knob? The coarse adjustment knob moves the body tube to focus the image.
What is the function of the base? The base supports the microscope.
What is the function of the illuminator? The illuminator produces light or reflects light up towards the eyepiece.
What is the function of the diaphragm? The diaphragm regulates the amount of light passing up towards the eyepiece.
What is the function of the diaphragm lever? The diaphragm lever opens and closes the diaphragm.
What is the function of the stage clips? The stage clips hold the slide in place.
What is the function of the low-power objective? The low-power objective provides a magnification of 10x and is the shortest objective.
What is the function of the high-power objective? The high-power objective provides a magnification of 40x and is the longest objective.
What is the function of the nosepiece? The nose piece holds the objectives and can be rotated to change the magnification.
What is the function of the body tube? The body tube maintains the proper distance between the eyepiece and the objectives.
