MCBL - Mitosis
Mitosis
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Chromatin | DNA in its typical uncondensed form during interphase |
| Chromatids | chromatin condenses forming chromatid |
| Chromosomes | two sister chromatids held together by a centromere |
| Prophase | 1. DNA begins to condense (chromatin) and the nucleoli disappear; microtubules are organized/centrosomes move to opposite sides/poles of the cell. |
| Prometaphase | 2. the nucleus disintegrates, add kinetochores on the centromere of each sister chromatid |
| Metaphase | 3. all sister chromatids align along the metaphase plate and are attached to the mitotic spindle (fully formed) at the kinetochores |
| Anaphase | 4. begin to separate sister chromatids. The microtubules shorten and pull to opposite sides (chromatids) |
| Telophase | 5. chromosomes are now at opposite sides of the cell; nucleus begins to reform; DNA decondenses |
