| Classification | The division of organisms into groups, or classes, based on specific characteristics. |
| Taxonomy | The science of describing, naming, and classifying organisms. |
| Branching Diagrams | A graphic organizer that shows similarieties, and differences between organisms. |
| Carolus Linnaeus | A taxonomist who developed the seven level classification system. |
| Kingdom | The first level of classification which include six distinct groups of organisms. |
| Phylum | The second level of classification. |
| Class | The third level of classification. |
| Order | The fourth level of clasifications. |
| Family | The fifth level of classification. |
| Genus | The sixth level of classification. |
| Species | The seventh level of classification in which the organisms are closely enough related that they can mate to produce fertile offspring. |
| Scientific names | The two-part name for a specific organism which identifies the genus and species. |
| Dichotomous key | An aid that is used to identify organisms that consists of the answers to a series of questions. |
| Felis Domesticus | The common house cat. |
| Tyrannosaurus Rex | Tyrant lizard king |
| Symbian pandora | An organism that lives on the lips of lobsters. |
