To help with memorizing components involved in the immune system

| What is salmonella? | A strain of bacteria that can enter the human system through contaminated water or food. |
| What is the role of blood vessels? | Blood vessels carry blood throughout the body. They are part of the circulatory system and are in charge of delivering red and white blood cells throughout the body. |
| What are monocytes? | Monocytes flow as white blood cells and are constantly on patrol. They are first responders to any invasion and can find and kill many different types of bacteria without help. When activated to become killers they morph into macrophages. |
| What is the function of red blood cells? | To move oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs. |
| How do viruses replicate? | Viruses can only replicate themselves by infecting a host cell. |
| What are neutrophils? | Neurophils are fast moving immune cells that are the front line of the immune system. When alerted they rush to infected site in large numbers where they each kill several bacteria before dying from exertion. |
| Where are monocytes made? | In the bone marrow. |
