Immune Attack

Immunity The body's ability to naturally resist and protect against harmful microbes from entering the body.
Phagocyte White blood cells - key weapons of the immune system. Phagocytes protect the body by ingesting harmful foreign particles and dead or dying cells. They are essential for fighting infections and immunity.
Monocyte A type of white blood cell and play two roles in immune function. They replenish resident macrophages and in response to inflammation signals, move quickly to sites of infection and divide into macrophages to start an immune response.
Macrophage A type of white blood cell and are the first responders of the immune system. Their role is to engulf and digest cellular debris and pathogens.
Lymphocyte A type of white blood cell and can be divided into large lymphocytes and small lymphocytes. The three major types of lymphocyte are T cells, B cells and natural killer (NK) cells.
Neutrophils Fast moving immune cells and are the "front line soldiers of the immune system." Capable of killing multiple bacteria cells before they die from exertion.
Red Blood Cells Have the most important blood duty. They constantly travel through the body delivering oxygen and removing waste.
