somatic and germline

differences between the two gene therapies

QuestionAnswer
what are germline cells? cells that divide to create an embryo. (zygote, egg, sperm)
which of the two therapies poses ethical issues? Germline therapy.
Why are the somatic therapy changes not passed on to offspring? Because it only alters that specific cell that's targetted.
Which of the two is easier and why? Germline as it's easier to get into gametes.
Which of the therapies alters specific body cells? Somatic
This method fuses the altered gene with the target cell. Somatic.
What type of allele is ADDED to the target cell (Not replaced) functional.
