symbiosis the living together of two dissimilar organisms, as in mutualism, commensalism, amensalism, or parasitism.
commensalism A symbiotic relationship between two organisms of different species in which one derives some benefit while the other is unaffected.
mutualism an association between organisms of two different species in which each member benefits.
parasitism The characteristic behavior or mode of existence of a parasite or parasitic population
scavenger an animal or other organism that feeds on dead organic matter.
decomposer an organism, usually a bacterium or fungus, that breaks down the cells of dead plants and animals into simpler substances.
trophic level any class of organisms that occupy the same position in a food chain, as primary consumers, secondary consumers, and tertiary consumers.
