Mitosis/

QuestionAnswer
What is a chromosome? packages of DNA and proteins
How many Chromosomes do humans have? 46 chromosomes
How many pairs of chromosomes do they have? 23 pairs
What is the first phase of the cell cycle ? G1 Phase
What are the phases in the cell cycle called? Stages of Interphase
What happens in the G1 Phase? Growth
What happens in the M phase ? Mitosis and Cytokinesis
Which three hases make up interphase? G1,S, G2
The division of the cell nucleus during M phase of the cell cycle is called? Mitosis
What stage is it when Chromosomes are replicated and the synthesis of DNA molecules take place? S phase
Phase in which mitosis and cytokinesis occurs? M phase
G1 . S, G2 phases all make up what phase? Interphase
In eukaryotic cells chromosomes are what shape? Linear
In prokaryotic cell chromosomes are what shape? Circular
mitosis? is cell division from making two identical nuclei.
The order of phases? Interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase and cytokinesis.
Occurs in what type of cells? Somatic Cells
What does Mitosis produce? 2 genetically identical cells
What does Cytokinesis do? It completes the mitosis process by dividing the cytoplasm
How many stages make up Mitosis? About 4
What are the four stages of Mitosis in order? Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telephase
What happens in anaphase? The chromosomes are separated and move to opposite sides of the cell
What happens in Prophase? Chromatin condenses to form chromosomes. The nucleus breaks down and spindle fibers begin to form.
What occurs during the stage of metaphase? Chromosomes line up in the center.
What occurs during the telephase stage? Chromosomes begin to separate. The nucleus begins to form and the spindle fibers break down.
