Indic Macro & Enzyme
These flashcards are from my 9th grade BioMed class.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How is activation energy related to enzymes? | Enzymes require activation in order to help react. |
| What is an induced fit model? | When the active site (in a reaction) changes to fit the substrate. |
| What is the lock and key model? | When the substrate and the active site fit perfectly together. |
| What are the 8 characteristics of enzymes? | (check study guide for the answer.) |
| Name 4 types of indicators and what type of macro molecule building blocks they indicate. | 1- Benedict solution: Glucose 2- Lugol's Iodine: Starch 3- Biuret solution: Proteins 4- Brown paper bag: Lipids |
| Define the term "negative feedback." | When the output of a system acts to oppose changes to the input of the system. |
| Define the term "positive feedback." | The enhancement of an effect by its own influence on the process that gives rise to it (how the body systems usually respond to something.) |
| What are macro molecules? What do they do? | They are a molecule containing a large number of atoms. They comprise everything in your body, and help build organization. |
| Define the term "enzyme." | Enzymes help the body function by acting as catalysis (they lower the amount of energy required for a reaction to happen.) |
| Define the term "activation energy." | The amount of energy required by certain chemicals in order for them to have a reaction. |
| Name the 4 different types of macro molecules, and describe what they do. | (Check guided notes for the answers.) |
