QuestionAnswer
integumentary system(skin,hair,fingernails,toenails,sweat glands,and oil glands) protects the body,helps regulate body temperature,eliminate some waste,detects sensations such as touch ,pain,warmth and cold.
skeletal system(bones joints cartilage) supports and protects the body,provides surface area for muscle attachments,aids in body movement,houses cells that produce blood cells,stores minerals and lipids
muscular system(skeletal muscle tissue) participates in body movements such as walking,maintaining posture,produces heat.
nervous system(brain, spinal cord,nerves,eyes,ears) detects changes in the bodys internal and external enviorments,interprets changes and responds by causing muscular contractions or glandular secretions
endocrine system(pineal gland,hypothalmas,pituitaty gland,thymus gland,parathyroid glands,adrenal glands,pancreas,ovaries,testes) regulates body activities by releasing hormones
cardiovascular system (blood, heart,blood vessels) heart pumps blood through blood vessels,blood carries oxygen and nutrients to cells and carbon dioxide and wastes away from cells
lymphatic system(immunity)(lymphatic fluid and vessels,spleen,thymus,lymph nodes,tonsils returns proteins and fluid to blood,carries lipids from gastrointestinal tract to blood.
respiratory system(lungs,pharynx{throat},larnx{voice box},trachea{windpipe},bronchial tubes.) transfers oxygen from inhaled air to blood and carbon dioxide from blood to exhaled air,helps regulate acid base balance of body fluids.
digestive system(mouth,pharynx,esophagus,stomach,small intestines,large intestines,anus,salvary glands,liver,gallbladder,pancreas.) acheives physical and chemical breakdown of food,absorbs nutrients,eliminates solid wastes.
urinary system(kidneys,ureters,urinary bladder,urethrea) eliminates wastes and regulatesvolumes and chemical composition of blood,helps maintain the acid base balance of body fluids,helps regulate the production of red blood cells
reproductive system(testes,ovaries,uterus,vagina,mammary glands,ductus,deferens,seminal vesicals,prostate and penis) gonads produce gametes that unite to form new organism,gonads also release homormones that regulate reproduction and other body processes.
