Cells structure and function

Lysosomes Break down and recycle macromolecules
Cell wall outer layer of a plant cell. Shapes and supports the cell.
Cell membrane Regulates materials entering cell. Supports and protects cell.
Cytoplasm Gel-like substance inside a cell, supports cell and allows travel.
Nucleolus Found in the nucleus, produces ribosomes
Nuclear membrane Membrane that surrounds and protects the nucleus
Nuclear pores Pathways in and out of the nucleus
Cytoskeleton Maintains cell shape,allows for movement.
Microtubules Allow for movement in the cells.
Centrioles Groups of microtubules.
Ribosomes synthesize proteins
Mitochondria Converts chemical energy into "food" usable by the cell.
Chloroplasts Convert solar energy into chemical energy.
Endoplasmic Reticulum Assembles proteins and lipids.
Golgi Body Preps things to exit the cell.
