Inheritance

QuestionAnswer
Heredity The passing of traits from parents to offspring.
Genetics The branch of biology that focuses on heredity.
Monohybrid Cross A cross that involves one pair of contrasting traits.
True-breeding All the offspring display only one form of a particular trait. This is done by allowing the organism to only breed with itself for several generations.
P generation The parental generation. They are the first two individuals that are crossed in a breeding experiment.
F1 generation The offspring of the P generation.
F2 generation The offspring of the F2 generation.
