What is the function of a carbohydrate? To provide the body with energy.
What is the monomer of a lipid? Fatty acid.
2 carbohydrate polymers. Starch and cellulose.
What are the parts that make up the monomer for a lipid? Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen.
2 kinds of lipid subunits. Steroids and wax.
What is the monomer of a protein? An amino acid.
Identify 2 carbohydrate monomers. Glucose and fructose.
Describe the composition of a proteins' monomer. Carbon, Hydrogen and an amino group
What is the monomer for a nucleic acid? Nucleotide.
Describe the composition of a monomer for a nucleic acid. Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen.
To what 4 things is the central carbon connected in the proteins monomer? An amino group. Hydorgen, Oxygen, and Carbon.
Plastid Manufactures and stores chemical compounds.
Mitochondria Create energy for the cell.
Endoplasmic reticulum (smooth) Detoxifies drugs and allows protein synthesis to take place.
Endoplasmic reticulum (rough) Manufactures and transports proteins.
Ribosome Assembles 20 different molecules.
Golgi apparatus Protein packer
Chromatin The material of which chromosomes of organisms other than bacteria are composed.
Rudolf Virchow The 1st to demonstrate that cell theory applies to diseased tissue.
Robert Hooke Examined cell walls in cork and was the first to name them.
