Meiosis is a form of cell division that halves the number of chromosomes when forming specialized reproductive cells.
Crossing-Over occurs when portions of a chromatid on one homologous chromosomes are broken and exchanged with the corresponding chromatid portions of the other homologous chromosome.
Independent Assortment random distribution of homologous chromosomes during meiosis.
Spermatogenesis the process by which sperm are produced in male animals.
Sperm the four cells change in form and develop a tail to become male gametes.
Oogenesis the process by which gametes are produced in a female animals.
Ovum the lager cell develops into a gamete.
Asexual Reproduction a single parent passes copies of all the genes to each of its offspring.
Clone an individual produced by asexual reproduction.
Sexual Reproduction two parents each form reproductive cells that have one-half the number of chromosomes.
Life Cycle the entire span of life of an organism from one generation to the next.
Fertilization the union of a male and female gamete to form a zygote.
Sporophyte in plants and algae that have alternation of generations,the diploid individual or generations that produces haploid spores.
Spore a reproductive cell or multicellular structure that is resistant to enviromental conditions and that can develop into an adult without fusion with another cell.
Gametophyte in alternation of generations, the phase in which gametes are formed
