eyepiece allows you to view the image on the stage and contains the ocular lens
nosepiece holds the objective lenses and is able tp change magnification
objective lenses foun on the nosepiece and range from low and to high power
stage clips usedd to hold a slide in place on the stage
light source also called the illuminator, this protects light upwards through the diaphram to allow the speciman to be viewed
coarse adjustment knob move the stage up and down to help you get thye specimans into view; first know you adjust
fine adjustment knob moves the stage slightly to help you "fine" tune your view of the specimen
diaphragm enables you to adjust the amount of light passing through the specimen
base bottom of the microscope
stage supports the slide that is being viewed
cover slip small plastic or glass piece that is used to cover a liquid drop on a slide
slide small glass plate on which speicmen is ploaced for veiwing
power refersw to the degree of magnafacation of lens
total magnafication the power of the ocular lens multiplied by the power of the objective lens
dry mount slide slide used for viewing objects that are not wet and can not use a coverslip
