What are the results of cell division? two cells that are identical to the original, parent cell
What are chrmosomes? structures that contain DNA and become darkly colored when stained
What do chromosomes do? They carry genetic material that is copied and passed from one generation to the next
What happens during the cell cycle? the cells grow and then divide
What is interface? The majority of cells life where it grows
What is G1 phase? The cell grows and production is high
What happens during the G2 phase? another growth period.organelles are formed. cell ports needed for cell division are formed.
What happens during the S phase? During the S phase the cell copies it chromosomes
What are the phases of mitosis? prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase and cytokinesis
What happens during prophase? the chromatin coils to form visible chromosomes, spindle fibers form, the nuclear envelope dissolves
What hapens during metaphase? the chromosomes move to the equator of the spindle
What happens during anaphase? The centomeres split and the sister chromatids are pulled apart to the opisite side of the cell
What happens during telophase? Two daughter cells form. cells seperate. nuclear envelope reappears.DNA uncoils.spindle fibers disapeer
What happens during cytokinesis? Cells cytoplasm divides
What happens when enzymes lose control of cell cycle? Cancer
What happens with the cells when cancer forms? the cells divide uncontrollably
What is enzyme production directed by? Genes- which control production of proteins

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
