QuestionAnswer
Mucus Represented by oil. Coats and covers the digestive tract to protect it from digestive processes
Peristalsis Represented by the wavelike motion of the tubing. Ensures that food goes in the right direction.
Sphincter Muscles represented by the rubber bands. These muscles are located between the digestive tract organs.
Mechanical Digestion Physical (Occurs the whole time) Ex. Chew, Swallow, Tongue
Chemical Digestion Using chemicals to digest (breaking down food/nutrients) Ex. Acids, enzymes, Amylase
Amylase Enzyme that breaks down starch into sugar
Pepsin Enzyme that breaks down protein into amino acids. Found in the stomach
HCl Acid that activates pepsin.
Gastric Juice Pepsin and HCl combined.
