| Mechanical Digestion | Physical (Occurs the whole time) Ex. Chew, Swallow, Tongue |
| Chemical Digestion | Using chemicals to digest (breaking down food/nutrients) Ex. Acids, enzymes, Amylase |
| Amylase | Enzyme that breaks down starch into sugar |
| Pepsin | Enzyme that breaks down protein into amino acids. Found in the stomach |
| HCl | Acid that activates pepsin. |
| Gastric Juice | Pepsin and HCl combined. |
