| The question: | You must ask a question that is well defined, measurable, and controllable. |
| The hypothesis: | You must develop a hypothesis, or a possible explanation to answer your question. |
| The Experiment: | You must set up an experiment to test your hypothesis. |
| The Scientific Paper: | A SCIENTIFIC PAPER usually includes the following parts: a Title, an Abstract, an Introduction, Materials and Methods, a Discussion, a Conclusion, and References. |
| Variable: | Something that changes. |
| Independent variable: | The variable that is varied or manipulated by the researcher. |
| Dependent variable | The response that is measured. |
| Controlled Variables: | Variables that are kept the same. |
