Reactant If the reaction prodceeds in only one direction
Product The end result of an experiment
Metabolism the term used to describe all of the chemical reactions that occur in an organism
Activation Energy In many chemical reactions, the amount of energy needed to start the reaction
Catalyst Reduce the amount of activation energy that is needed for reaction to taken place
Enzyme a protein or RNA molecule that speeds up metabolics with out being permanently changed or destroyed
Redox Reaction reactions in which electrons are tranfered between atom are known as oxidation reduction reaction
Oxidation Reaction a reactant loses one or more electrons, thus becoming more positive in charge
Reduction Reaction a reactant gains one or more electrons, thus becoming more negative in charge
