Mitosis

stages of cell division

QuestionAnswer
What is mitosis? The phase in the cell cycle during which the nucleus divides.
What is interphase? The period in the cell cycle where the cell grows, duplicates DNA, and prepares for division.
What is prophase? The phase in the cell cycle where DNA condenses to form chromosomes.
What is metaphase? The phase in the cell cycle where chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell.
What is anaphase? The phase in the cell cycle where chromosomes split and move to opposite poles.
What is telophase? The phase in the cell cycle where the cell pinches and divides.
What is cytokinesis? The division of a parent cell's cytoplasm following mitosis.
