Da Cell Functions

QuestionAnswer
What is the cell membrane? It protects the cell from outside environment. Plus what goes in and out of cell.
What is cytoplasm? It surrounds the internal structures of the cell and Holds organelles
What is the Nucleus? It contains genetic information and is the main control center of the cell.
What is Chromatin? Complex of DNA and protein found i the nuclei of cells.
What is a ribosome? It builds protein for the cell.
What is the nucleolus It produces ribosomes.
What is the Endoplasmic reticulum? It is a packaging/transportation system for molecules
Golgi Body Processes and Packages proteins after synthesis.
Vacuole Membrane bound structure that will store materials. Larger in plant then animal.
Lysosome Break down waste products, old organelles and food
Mitochondria To create energy for the cell (animal)
Chloroplast stores chlorofill/energy. only in plant cells
Cytoskeleton maintain shape, aids in transportation movement and cell devision
Centriole Aid in cell devision
Cell wall framework for support in plant cells.
what makes up a prokaryotic cell? plasma membrane, inicellular, no nucleas, simple, has ribosomes,( sometimes a cell wall) and cytoplasm. an example is bacteria
what makes up a eukaryotic cell? it contains organelles, uni or multicellular, it has a nucleas, more complex, and it has plant/animal cells
wat makes pro and eukaryotic cells the same? They both can be unicellular, both can have a cell wall, they have ribosomes, and cytoplasm.
What is the difference between the smooth and rough ER? The smooth has less ribosomes and the rough has more ribosomes
What is a vesicle? it is used to transport protien
What is different between a plant and animal cell? plant cells have a cell wall, a larger vacuole, and chloroplast. Animal cells have a centriole, lysosome,

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
