cells basic units of life.
cell theory fundemental concept of biology.
nucleus large membrane enclosed structure that contains dna.
eukaryotes cells that contain nuclei.
prokaryotes cells w/out nuclei.
organelles basically specialized "little" organs.
cytoplasm the portion of cell outside the nucleus.
nuclear envelope surrounds the nucleus.
chromatin granular material in nucleus. consists of DNA bonded to protien.
chromosomes. threadlike structures containing genetic info.
nucleolus where assembly of ribosomes begins.
ribosomes where proteins are assembled.
endoplasmic reticulum the site where lipid components of the cell membrane are assembled.
golgi apparatus modifys, sorts, and packages the proteins.
lysosomes` small organelles filled w enzymes.
vacuoles stores materials like water, salt, carbs or protein.
mitochondria porganelles that convert the chem. energy stored in food into compounds that are easier for the cell to use.
chloroplasts organelles that capture enrgy from the sun and convertr it to chem energy.
cytoskeleton supporting structure of a eukaryote.
centrioles located near the nucleus. help organize cell dividing
