| Canopy | The tree tops that form a continuous layer, which shades the forest floor. |

| Savanna | Tropical or temperate grasslands that have scattered deciduous trees and shrubs. |
| Chaparral | a biome that is dominate by dense, spiny shrubs and has scattered clumps of coniferous trees. |
| Desert | are areas that recaise an average of less that 25 cm of rainfall per year. |
