Stack #721909
Test 3.2 Human Biology
| Question | Function |
|---|---|
| Gene | a molecular unit of heredity of a living organism |
| Translation | Creation of the protein |
| Messenger RNA | Goes out of the nucleus by the nucleus pore |
| Transfer RNA | Bring the amino acid to the ribosome |
| Transcription | The creation of an RNA |
| Codons | Three segments of gene sequence |
| Ribosomal RNA | The mRNA when added to the ribosome, ready to start the translation |
| Cell division | Results in a new cell with genetic material that is identical to that of the original cell |
| Diploid number | 2 chromosomes |
| Autosomes | a chromosome that is not a sex chromosome |
| Mitosis | Results in a new cell with genetic material that is identical to that of the original cell |
| Replication | The process during a cell division when the DNA is copied |
| Interphase | The period where the cell is preparing to divide |
| Chromatin | The combination of DNA and proteins that make up the contents of the nucleus of a cell |
| What are the stages in mitosis? | Prophase/Metaphase/Anaphase/Telophase |
| Prophase | Centrioles are moving to the poles and the nuclear envelope disappear |
| Metaphase | The chromosomes are right in the middle of the cell |
| Anaphase | The centrioles pull the chromosomes and they start to agglomerate |
| Telophase | The cell is divided, know you have to cells that are the same |
| Meiosis | Reduces the chromosome number by half in new cells. 23 pairs, (22 of those pairs are autosomes, 1 pair is sex chromosomes) |
| What are the stages in Meiosis | Prophase 1/ Metaphase 1/ Anaphase 1/ Telophase 1/ Prophase 2/ Metaphase 2/ Anaphase 2/ Telophase 2 |
| Haploid | 1 chromosome |
