QuestionAnswer
pH scale (p.43)Indicates how many H ions are in a solution. Ranges from 0-14. The lower the pH, the greater the acidity.
chemical reaction (p.50)A process that changes, or transforms, one set of chemicals into another.
reactants (p.50) The elements or compounds that enter into a chemical reaction.
products (p.50) The elements or compounds produced by a chemical reaction.
activation energy (p.51) The energy that is needed to get a chemical reaction started.
catalyst (p.52) A substance that speeds up the rate of a chemical reaction.
enzymes (p.52) proteins that speed up chemical reactions that take place inside cells.
substrates (p.52) The reactants of a chemical reaction involving enzymes.
