What is an atom? the smallest particle that makes up all matter
positive particle in an atom proton
neutral particle in an atom neutron
negative particle in an atom electron
which two particles are in the nucleus of the atom? proton and neutron
What is an element? a pure of amount of one kind of atom. ie, oxygen, carbon....
what is a compound? when 2 or more atoms are combined
what is an ionic bond? a weak chemical bond holding together 2 or more atoms. This type of bond is easy to break
what is a covalent bond? a strong chemical bond where electrons are shared. This type of bond is harder to break
What are the four main elements that make up the human body? Oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen
What two elements combine to make water? hydrogen and oxygen
