What is the scientific study of interactions among organisims and between organisims and their surroundings? Ecology.
What is a Biosphere? The comdined portion of the plannet in which all life exists.
What is a group of organisims theat are simular to each other and have the ability to mate and produce fertile ofspring? A species.
what is a population? A group of individuals that belong to the same species and live in he same area.
what is a mix of different populations that live together in a defined space? An Ecosystem.
What is a biome? A group of ecosystems thet have the same climate and dominant communities.
what are organisims that use use energy from nature to feul the assembally of simple inorganic compounds into complex organic molecules? Autotorphs.
What are heterotrophs? organisms that rely on other organisms for food and energy.
What links all the food chains in an ecosystem together? A food web.
What is a trophic level? A step of a food chain.
What is the total amount of living tissue in a given trophic level? The biomass.
what are biochemical cycles? The passing of matter between parts of the bioshere.
what is a limiting nutrient? a nutrient that limits an ecosystem because of its scarceness
what is the wether? it is the day to day condition of the earths atmosphere at ant one lotion.
what is the average weather in any one location? Climate.
what is the natural situation in which heat is retained? the Green House effect.
what are biotic factors? the biological influences on an organism in an ecosystem
What are physical factors that shape an ecosystem? Abiotic factors.
what is a niche? The range of physical and biological conditions in which an organism lives
What do you get when a population stops growing after a period of exponential growth? Logistic Growth.
What is the carrying capacity? the amount of individuals an ecosystem can support
What is demography? The scientific study of human populations.
what is the Demographic transition? the radical change between birth and death rates
What do we call the development of fertilizers to increase crop yield? The Green Revolution.
What are renewable resources? resources that can be naturally replenished
What is a pollutant? it is a harmful substance that can enter the biosphere through air, land or water
what is the variety of organisms in the biosphere? Biodiversity.
what is Biological Magnification? The process in which toxins are concentrated further.
