What factors affect the size of a population? 1. immigration 2. emmigration 3. birth rate 4. death rate
What is exponential growth? 1. a constant state of growth under ideal conditions 2. usually occurs in bacteria 3. not intefered with by outside sources
What is logistic growth? 1. occurs after a period of exponential growth where the rate of growth either slows or stops 2. usually when a population reaches the carrying capacaty of an ecosystem
What is carrying capacity? It is the total number of individuals an ecosystem can support.
What factors affect population growth? 1. density-dependent factors 2. density-independent factors
What are density-dependent factors these are biotic factors in an ecosystem examples include: competition, predation, parasitism, and disease
What are density-independent factors abiotic factors in an environment examples include: natural disasters, weather occurances, human interferance, drout, etc.
