ADH (antidiuretic hormone) makes kidneys reabsorb water, fights dehydration
FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) triggers gamete production in gonads
LH (luteinizing hormone) triggers sex hormone production in gonads
oxytocin stimulates uterine contractions (birth), milk production
TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) regulates secretion of thyroid hormones
epinephrine (adrenalin) starts "fight or flight", raises blood sugar, dialates pupils, raises heart rate, etc
norepinephrine (noradrenalin) antagonist to adrenalin- shuts down "fight or flight" response
estrogen and progesterone cause ovulation, builds uterine lining
testosterone (an androgen) sperm production, 2ndary sex characteristics
insulin lowers blood glucose by causing cells to take it up
glucagon (antagonist to insulin) causes liver to release glucose from glycogen stores
melatonin fm pineal gland in brain-controls sleep patterns
