Immunity, based on Video "Your Magic Doctor, Science 30, Bio

QuestionAnswer
First line defense in our immune system is... skin, nose, eye lashes, eyelids
where are White Blood Cells (WBC) & Red Blood Cells (RBC's) produced? BONE MARROW!
Macrophages (location) Distributed to ALL TISSUES!
B-Cells(location) Travel to LYMPH NODES!
T-Cells(location) THYMUS GLAND!
Macropages(function) -engulf and eat the invaders/clean up (phagocytosis) -Analogy: The garbage man.
Helper T-cells(function) -identify the enemies -each invader is identifed by ANTIGENS.
B-Cells in Lymph Nodes (function) produce antibodies that match the antigen
Killer T-cells -kill the whole cells, including the virus! :D -work with antibodies to kill each other
Supressor T-Cells -Bring an end to the fight Anology: Referee
Memory T-Cells remember the invaders
What is an allergy? Immune stystem makes a mistake and attacks friendly things (ex.pollen from flowers)
What is the autoimmune system? Body attacks own body
How are cancer cells developed? -own cells mutate OR -caused by poisons
What do antibiotics do? Help kill off bacerial invaders in our body
what is an immunization? -Tricks immune system that body is sick -Memort t-cells will remember the disease -If it comes again, the body will already have the antibodies resulting in a rapid immune response!!!
