body cavities spaces within the body that contain, protect, seperate, and support internal organs.
cranial cavity space inside the skull that hold the brain
veretebral/spinal cavity formed by bones of the vertebral column contains spinal cord. (backbone)
thoracic cavity known as the chest cavity, bottom border is the diaphragm, contains 3 smaller cavities.pericardial, 2 pleural, mediastinum cavities
pericardial cavity surrounds the heart, located within the pericardium.
pleural cavities surrounds the lungs, there are 2 of them.
mediastinum the space between the lungs, that contains the heart, esophagus, treachea and several large blood vessels.
abdominopelvic cavity has an upper and lower portion. Upper contains the stomach liver, small intestines, most of large intestines. Lower contains the urinary bladder and reproductive organs and rectum.
