| Compare and contrast the base pairings between complimentary nucleotides (A and T vs. C and G) | |
| Is the DNA molecule symmetrical? Are the two backbones of the helix identical? Explain your answer. | |
| What do the numbers 1-5 prime on the numbers of the DNA mean? | They represent the carbons of the deoxyribose. One prime is the first carbon next the base and 5 prime is the last carbon next to te phosphate group. Additionally the 3 prime connects the 5 prime when multiple deoxyribose sugars connect. |
| Who are Francis Crick and James Watson? | They are the ones who found the structure of DNA to be a 'double helix' and that DNA can unzip and be replicated. |
| What are hydrogen bonds? | Hydrogen bonds are bonds that connect two atoms. Of the two atoms that are being connected one must be hydrogen and both must have opposite charges (one positive and one negative). |
| Where do hydrogen bonds form? | Hydrogen bonds form between purine and pyramidine structures in DNA. |
| Why do hydrogen bonds form? |
